Miss Jennings' Young Fives Class
My Story
Hello! I am so excited that I get to be your child's teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Our year is going to be filled with lots of excitement and learning, and I am so happy I get to be apart of it! Previously, I taught all subjects in a Fourth Grade Gifted and Talented Class and I did my student teaching in second and third grade classes, so this will be my first time teaching Young Fives! I earned my degree in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston, and I just recently moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan from Daniel Island, South Carolina. So, this will be my first year teaching at St. Paul on the Lake and I could not be more thrilled to be apart of such an amazing community!
Just so you can get a sense of who I am, here is a short little introduction of my background. My family consists of my mom, dad, brother, and sister who are all very important to me. My mom was a stay at home mom and now spends most of her days with her grandchildren and volunteers for Hospice. My dad is a Project Manager/ Civil Engineer by degree, and works for a world-wide Commercial Construction Company based out of Los Angeles, CA. Both my brother and sister are older than me. My brother is thirty-nine, and my sister is thirty-six. My brother is married with four children, and lives in Clayton, North Carolina, and my sister is married, with three children, and having her fourth very soon. She and her family live here in Grosse Pointe. I can’t forget to mention a very special member of my family, my yellow lab, Molly, who just turned seventeen!
I have moved around quite a bit in my life because of my dad’s job. I was born in Key West, Florida and I was there for a short period of time until we moved to Northern California. From California we then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, Daniel Island, South Carolina, and currently Grosse Pointe, Michigan. I’m a very easygoing person and enjoy being outside in nature, while hiking, snowboarding, bike riding, boating, walking my dog, camping and things of the like. I also love to travel, and love to cook. I have to admit I love watching college football and watching movies.
I became a teacher because I love children, and I thought what better profession than teaching. I would get to work with an abundance of children everyday! I would love to make a difference in a child's life. I had so many amazing teachers in Elementary School and they had such a positive influence on my life, so I wanted to do the same for my students! Hopefully, this gives you a little insight to who I am as a person, and as your child's teacher.
